Биоразлагаемые и биосовместимые полимеры активно используют в тканевой инженерии для изготовления скаффолдов. Био­медицинские свойства полимерных скаффолдов зависят от физико-химических особенностей и кинетики биодеградации полимерного материала, 3D-микроструктуры и топографии поверхности скаффолдов, наличия минеральных веществ, лекарственных агентов и ростовых факторов, загруженных в скаффолд. Однако помимо этого может проявляться и собственная биологическая активность полимера и продуктов его биодеградации. В обзоре рассмотрены исследования, в которых показано, что скаффолды из поли-3-оксибутирата (ПОБ) и его сополимеров обладают собственной биологической активностью, а именно остеоиндуктивными свойствами. ПОБ способен индуцировать дифференцировку мезенхимальных стволовых клеток в остеогенном направлении in vitro и стимулирует регенерацию костной ткани при моделировании критических и некритических костных дефектов in vivo.
