Risk Factors of Cytomegalovirus Infection and Its Clinical Manifestations in Newborns
The objective of the investigation is to study the risk factors of cytomegalovirus in newborns and the characteristics of infection clinical manifestations.
Materials and Methods. There has been performed complex clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination of 84 mothers of the newborns being treated in Children City Clinical Hospital No.1, Nizhny Novgorod, with symptoms of congenital cytomegalovirus infection (CMVI) or those in high risk group of prenatal infection.
Results. CMVI clinical picture in newborns was stated to have nonspecific character and be characterized by prematurity, CNS, hepatic, renal and pulmonary damages. The assessment of CMVI risk factors is necessary for early diagnostics and early treatment of such children.
