Integral Index is a New Way to Assess Men Fertility
Reproductive potential of men is assessed according to spermatograms results obtained relying on macro- and microscopic investigation of sperm sample. This approach does not make it possible to have integral index that is equivalent to healthy reproductive potential of a man as spectrogram indexes are compared separately with percent characteristics of normal standards.
The authors suggest calculating only active mobile and morphologically saved sperm cells after their pre-separation using floating up and centrifugation method in concentration gradient. It enables to have the index of absolute gamete number in 1 ml of ejaculate. The fertility threshold is the presence of gametes able to be fertilized (mobile and morphologically saved), 5 mn/ml in number. If the number of gametes is lower than the threshold, other diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities are required, while threshold elevation gives the evidence of man’s potential fertility.
