The aim of the investigation is to study the peculiarities of pulmonary circulatory dynamics in patients with bronchial asthma, develop and apply an analytical model of correlation between systolic pressure in pulmonary artery and respiratory function (RF) values.

Materials and Methods. 112 patients with severe bronchial asthma (BA) were examined. Physical examination, RF and echo Doppler cardiography were performed in all patients.

Results. The presence of obstructive syndrome was confirmed when performing RF investigation in patients with severe BA. Severe pulmonary hypertension was also revealed in patients with severe BA. The pressure in pulmonary artery was increasing in bronchial obstruction progression and the reduction of forced expiratory volume per second (FEV1) that was represented by negative significant correlation dependence between the given parameters (r=–0.48; р=0.005).
There was developed an analytical model of dependence between FEV1 and the level of systolic pressure in pulmonary artery based on linear regression analysis. The model enables to assess approximately the main parameters of pulmonary circulatory dynamics in BA patients in clinical practice.

Conclusion. Pulmonary hypertension revealed in 53.2% of BA patients has moderate functional character. One of the determining factors of pulmonary hypertension in bronchial asthma is bronchial obstruction. There is strong correlation and analytical interrelation between RF and pulmonary circulatory dynamics values.
